Khichadi


Nutrition value of Mung Dal

- 2 cups rice
- 1 cup split mung dal
- 5 cups water
- Oil 2-3 tablespoon
- Cumin seeds
- Salt
- Turmeric powder
- Garam Masala 1 tablespoon
- 4 Whole red dried chilies
- Lime juice

1. Wash rice and dal thoroughly
2. Heat oil in sauce pan
3. Add cumin, red chili
4. Add turmeric and garam masala, rice and dal
5. Stir well and add little salt, cook for few minutes
6. Add water and bring to boil, season for salt and add fresh lime juice
7. When water level is same as rice level, lower heat, cover and cook for 15-20 minutes
8. Serve hot with Ghee and matha


** this recipe can be made with toor dal instead of mung dal
